LT1-Powered Land Rover Defender 90 Will Make You Forget About The New One

The crew from E.C.D. Automotive Design has unveiled one of the cleanest restomod Land Rover Defender models that you’re ever likely to come across.

Work on the classic Defender 90 started by stripping the off-roader back and installing a GM-sourced LT1 5.7-liter naturally-aspirated V8 engine coupled to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Defender has also been fitted with upgraded heavy-duty axles at both the front and rear and given that it is now much faster than stock, E.C.D. has also installed uprated brakes at all four corners.

Dual stainless steel exhausts from Borla help to complete the performance-focused package.

Numerous alterations have also been made to the exterior of the Land Rover. For starters, it has been repainted in a unique shade of green dubbed Night Mission and has a contrasting white roof. It has also been equipped with a set of 16-inch steel wheels wrapped in Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires.

The front-end looks particularly fresh thanks to a Nakatangenga Silver Mesh grille and an upgraded bumper with LED daytime running lights. E.C.D. also fitted the Defender with a swing away wheel carrier, and custom teak wood fold-down side steps.

Found in the cabin is a reconfigured seating layout with two front seats and two bench seats in the rear. Those front seats just so happen to be Recaro’s desirable Sportster CS models that are heated and completed with custom-embossed headrests. Most interior surfaces are trimmed in plush Spinneybeck Copenhagen leather with off-white contrast stitching.

Elsewhere, the dashboard has been re-trimmed in new leather, square weave carpets installed, a new steering wheel fitted, and a number of new gauges catch the eye. The restomod specialists also fitted custom seatbelts, a bespoke headliner, distinctive door cards, an Alpine radio with Bluetooth and wireless Apple CarPlay, JL Audio speakers, a Kenwood subwoofer, a reversing camera, remote start, WiFi, USB, and wireless charger.
